Unsolicited advice of a shark moment:
This is one of the three books I like clients to read before we start working together…
The overwhelming majority of violence is done by men, across all cultures, races, past and present.
So I’m going to address here violence done against women by men.
I’d like to address a common problem briefly :
“The Not Nice, Nice guy” Syndrome
‘Charm’ and ‘being charming’ and other what appear to be personality traits are actually techniques used to obtain trust, and even just a momentary relaxing of boundaries….it only takes a minute or two, that’s all they need…
A predator has an agenda. Learn what they say, who they’ll say it to, and words and mannerisms they employ.
There is a difference between living in irrational fear, and trusting that gut instinct that yells at you: “There is something very wrong here!”
This book will cleanly and wonderfully illustrate the difference, and how to keep safe.
Buy it for yourself, your wife, girlfriend, daughters, friends, men, women, third gender, whomever.
This came up because my best friend’s twins are going away to college in Idaho, and both parents are very worried and want to arm them with something.
Two copies of this book and a stack of cash will be my gift to them…some quick training reviews on how to protect themselves physically as well.
It’s an important and useful read.
Take it from a shark.
(Also a great book if you are married or dating a “Not nice nice guy”….learn how to leave them safer, have an exit strategy….simple breaking up doesn’t work…they will always ramp it up.)
