Good morning.

Good morning.

You’re still here.

If you are reading this, that means you are alive and in at least moderate control of your faculties.

Under your dermis, hiding beneath all those twitching muscles, stringy tendons, bouncy forgiving cartilage….is your scaffolding…

Your skeleton.

Feel your skull with the free hand.

Examine around your eyes, the hard protective housing that holds those seeing gooey balls.

And that active pink and grey mass, your brain.

Flex your legs. Lift that cup of coffee, tea, or vodka to your face, and drink…your mouth is hinged and active, animated to carry words to others and food to yourself.

Thru the cage of your ribs, beats a heart.

Look at your children…maybe you made and grew these miniature versions of you and another.

Maybe you adopted and loved and grew them.

Their bones will stretch and build upon themselves, making larger skeletons, daily.

Look at your dog, your cat, your lizard or snake…

The skeleton resides in them…flexible and new, or brittle and older…these bones can lift, rest, endure, break, repair….and built on them is the meat puppet you’ll drive, until you and they don’t.

Maybe an x-ray shows broken bones.

Perhaps your vehicle has seen some damage over the years, or fought off illness many times.

It’s still there now.

Whatever you have endured or struggle with now, that “ivory man” carries YOU, that “all singing all dancing crap of the universe” as Palahniuk says.

A creature ever amazed, repelled, attracted, enamored, and watching always; this large fish honors the astounding configuration of bone and matter that is you.

Celebrate your skeletons today.

They are beautiful.
