Horrible thing to have done.

I know it’s on the late side, but I have to get this off my chest.
I’m posting this with the hopes that I can convince people to never click a Daily Beast article ever again. Their actions weren’t just amoral, or immoral, even. Their actions were reprehensible and have put people’s lives at risk.
The short of it is, the author of the now-deleted article was trying to do a piece on sexytime at the Olympics, and Tinder wasn’t working well enough, so he thought that using Grindr to lure (often closeted) gay athletes into the open was a marvelous idea. And The Daily Beast agreed, and posted the story.
In the US, “outing” someone can ruin families, cost jobs, and end up with people being ostracized.
Outside the US, people get ostracized, put in jail (sometimes their families too) and in some cases are sent to their deaths – if not by the government, at the hands of their neighbors.
The Daily Beast is going on my perma-ban list, and is getting blocked on Google searches. I hope you’ll do the same, because no excuse for this is good enough. I also hope you’ll tell your friends, whether or not you share my rant.
